He said it in front of witnesses who will ensure that he stumps up the money!! :O) Allen Carr seems like a way forward.... there's also an internet training session so I may go that way!!

Thanks guys for all the tips.... I think the walking will combat the weight gain!! Linda.... I know exactly what you mean.... it crossed my mind, but I genuinely believe that he is trying to encourage me.... and £1000 is 10% of my target so not only will I be healthier, I'll be stripping him of cash too!! :O)

We expect to see lots of mails from you..... It's good to keep your hands busy, so the more time typing the better..... As you are going to officially start 2005, you can try and help yourself but cutting down a bit now, Take it slowly and it should help eg if you smoke 20 a day, cut it down to 19 a day for the first week, then 18 a day the next week - 7 weeks till year end!! this helps to prepare yourself, My father went on a medical supported course and they just spoke about/prepared to give up for the first 3 weeks, We are behind you.

Di.it is tough. The first thing you find is you don't know what to do with your hands. But that does pass. Then another thing is that it seems to be calming as we draw in breath and let it out slowly.I was taught to go on drawing in breath and letting it out slowly as if I had a cigarette in my hand.I went through the motions at first, and then it bacame a breathing exercise when things got jumpy. It does work. The worst time is the sit down with a cup of tea or coffee as you are probably used to lighting up.Try and do something else here like a crossword puzzle,or just read a book or mag article.Just don't sit and do nothing at first as that is when you get the craving, when you are not occupied. Weught gain. For the first few weeks you will put on weight so you will need to step up your exercise routine and as you are already pretty active the weight gain will probably ease off early. You have a great attitutude to it- Good Luck Rose

Go on an Allen Carr Easyway course, if you can afford it; or at the very least read the book. I've recently given up against all the odds (I too love smoking) using his method; its great and so simple. It makes you realise just how easy giving up can be and, more importantly, how ridiculous things like patches etc are.
