I would get her to persist a bit more with her supplier to check for sure it is working correctly from their end - before she gets an engineer in for the heater. They are quite expensive to replace (mine cost about £200 four years ago) - being an elderly lady, the last thing she wants is someone ripping her off by insisting the heater needs replacing if it isnt that!

Night storage heaters are heating blocks, which are "charged up" at night when the leccy is cheaper, and the heaters are slowly giving off the heat during the day. sometimes having a "boost" in the afternoon.........thats when they are working properly. just a thought.....my MIL had them in her flat, and although the timer came ON, the main switch TO the heaters was off, so they never got charged up..... Second just a thought, the actual time on the clock is correct? weve just added an hour.?

I think she needs to get a heating engineer to have a look. Tele switching is intended to let the supplier control the amount of heat stored to make the heater more efficient. It tries to overcome the problem inherent in night storage heaters thet you have to guess what heat you will need tomorrow so that you can store it tonight. It is probably just a setting that needs adjusting. Bob

A elderly neighbour of mine is having trouble with her storage heaters and i was wondering if anyone else is having the same problem. Her heaters are on a "Radio Tele Switch" which she says that the electricity board can control them. Her tariff is 7 hours a night 10.30-12.30 then 0230-0730,but she is having trouble with them going off all differant times of the night .This has been going on since last winter and it has started again .Which means her bungalow is not getting heated properly but the Eectricity co say they are not switching them off.I don,t really know wot she means as i do not have this type of heating .Hope someone out there knows something about them .
