I think this may have been done before, but after talking about Florence Nightingale to my 9 year old daughter (she is studying famous victorians) I found Florence on the 1871, 1881 and 1891 census. Facinating!! Have you found anyone famous?

No, but its a good way to find info for history projects, isn't it? Not only can you look for famous people, but from a social point of view you can see what kinds of jobs people did, what kind of area somewhere was - did the households have lots of servants, or lots of lodgers? etc. Nell

My little girl did that a couple of years ago Julie. Last year they had to pretend to be Tudors for a day. And this year they are doing the Romans Jeanette x

My 2 younger grandaughters (cousins but both in same class) had to dress up as Victorians last year when in year 1. Guess who got to make the costumes? At least this year it's only my grandson, who's in year 1, to make a costume for - unless of course year 2 have a dress-up day this year too! LOL Sue

Julie They haven't had to dress up for the Romans - yet. But I might be able to manage a toga! lol. The other costumes were begged off my friend whose daughter is in the year above my daughter so she's already done it. Sue at Lagley Vale seems quite adept at this costume lark. Perhaps we should give her a shout! lol Jeanette x
