I HAVE BEEN LISTENING TO THE LOCAL COUNCIL SAYING BECAUSE THERE ARE NOW SO MANY RELIGIONS IN ENGLAND THEY ARE CALLING CHRISTMAS WINTERFEST SO NOT TO OFFEND ANYONE. OUR LOCAL TOWN AND I KNOW OF A FEW OTHERS WILL ONLY BE HAVING ONE GROTTO THIS YEAR. I HAVE ALWAYS TAKEN MY KIDS TO SEE SANTA.THEY ARE GROWING UP SO NOW I TAKE MY NEPHEWS. I LOVE CHRISTMAS AND SOON THERE WONT BE ANY BY ME. I HAVE NO OBJECTIONS TO OTHER RELIGIONS BUT LET US CELEBRATE OUR TRADITIONS. JOIN WITH ME AND SAY WE BELIEVE IN CHRISTMAS. I WILL COPY AND PASTE YOUR COMMENTS AND SEND THEM TO THE GOVERNMENT. WE MAY NOT CHANGE ANYTHING BUT IT WILL SHOW HOW WE FEEL. MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL. SUE

Hi Susan. We were having problems here in Australia last year, with Santa being restricted from childrens kindergardens and pre school centre's, as there were complaints by certain oganizations that it took away the true meaning of its Religious reasons. I mean really!! What harm can good old Santa cause, one day of the year. Should we get rid of the "Tooth Fairy" and have her locked up for stealing childrens teeth.!! What next!! Tony. Oz ps. I beleive in Christmas.

I believe that we will only find peace between all factions of society if we are all allowed to celebrate our own religious festivals. Why do we fall over ourselves to please Muslims and Hindus, and others and not be allowed to mention our own festival. I believe strongly in Christmas and all that goes with it - carols, religious servies, Father Christmas grottos etc. etc. Ann Glos

THE ONLY REASON THAT OTHER RELIGIONS ARE IN THIS COUNTRY IS THAT WE ARE CHRISTIANS AND ALLOWED THEM TO COME IN BECAUSE WE SHOULD TREAT EVERYONE EQUALLY. IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW WE CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS. AS NO ONE TELLS US HOW TO CELEBRATE OUR OWN BIRTHDAY, HOW CAN PEOPLE TELL US HOW TO CELEBRATE THE BIRTH OF JESUS. THE THREE KINGS AND SHEPPARDS GAVE HIM PRESENTS AND THEY TRAVELLED FAR. SO WE JUST LET SANTA DELIVER THE PRESENTS FOR THE LITTLE ONES AND GIVE A LITTLE HAPPINESS TO EVERYONE. WE SHOULD GET ONTO THE GOVERNMENT AND TELL THEM THIS IS ENGLAND AND WE WILL CELEBTATE. I BELIEVE IN CHRISTMAS AND SANTA XXXXXXX

Helen, you were very polite in your reply above. Well, I'm NOT sorry if it offends anyone that I believe in Christ. It's not a crime, let's face it, and when in Rome, etc. etc. Winterfest? Oh, come on! Next thing is that Christmas will be abolished! But don't let the P.C. Brigade see that bit, it might give them ideas. :-) Glenys x

No Offence to other religions but do they stop celebrations of their faiths as it will offend people - I do not think so!!!! oon we won't be able to do any form of celebrating or any form of anything as it will offend someone!!!!

Christmas for a lot of people is hearing The Salvation Army band playing Christmas carols in the streets. Unfortunately there are shopping centres who say that the band is too noisy - wait up, just need to go pass a CD shop and the music is blaring as it trys to outdo what the mall's sound system is playing. I look forward playing my Christmas music in coming weeks. Winterfest in NZ hardly - and Summerfest doesn't fit the bill - it's Christmas! Hear the bells ring.

I don't believe it!!!! First we are not supposed to fly our Union Jacks for fear of offending others in OUR country. (Wottsits to that, I've got one in my garden) Now it's Christmas.................We are basically a CHRISTIAN country, we believe in Christ and we celebrate his birthday in OUR way, i.e. cards and trees etc. The best part of Christmas will always be seeing your five year old on the stage at school in the Nativity play. How can they deny us that? It makes me so mad, Jo.
