Debbie you wouldn't last 5 minutes in this area then!!! When my neighbour (philippine) starts cooking her fish you can't have any doors or windows open!!! And the school dinners are the same!! Paul - I think you are right about the min. wage thing - this is also why most of the auxiliary and cleaning staff (and nurses come to that) in our hospitals are from overseas. Maz. XX

I think those and other names are franchised ie Wimpey. At least there you get a plate, knife and fork! Everytime I am dragged into one of these so called food places I cringe. The food is hot enough for my grandson aged 4. The only thing I have to look forward to is a trip to the toilet!

More to the point, maybe they're the only ones willing to work for minimum wage in a fairly busy, unpleasant environment

Most franchises appear to be run by Asians and Indians these days - even some cafes.

I went into a Burger King the other day and all the people serving etc., were chinese. It was really odd only the manager wasn't. First time I'd ever seen that. Think it must have just been a coincidence. It was in colchester which is a university town. Diane

Debbie, I think you're probably right that it's party in your mind. Oh well, healthier food from now on then lol

I think the smell thing is all in my mind. I just imagine that Indians smell like Indian food, and of course if they are cooking English food I feel as though they are transferring the smell and taste. I went to Hong Kong and I couldn't eat the food that well as the smell put me off. I was relieved when we found the MCCdonalds but even that smelt. I tried popping into the shop to buy crisps and biscuits but even that tasted strange. It is me I think as I am very fussy with my food, my family think I am a nightmare.

I beleive that Kentucky Fried Chicken is indeed a franchise. As such they have to do everything to certain guidelines. We have one here that is staffed almost exclusively by asians, which frankly does give a few problems sometimes when ordering, however KFC food should be prepared teh same way, and taste the same, in every branch - the same as you'd expect a Big Mac to be the same wherever you bought it. Is the implication that they were preparing the food in a different way (you mentioned the smell, which to me implied using "indian" spices). I'd be very surprised.

Thanks for that, but can they cook it like Indian style. Because even just simple Indian chips or something stinks. Just hate the smell.

Debbie

Ah I never thought of that, I just thought that the same company run them and employed the staff. So it could become an Indian then? not sure if they are allowed to but I hope not. Thanks

I love Kentucky fried Chicken, have it now and again. So tonight went to my nearest one that I always go to, and realised that all of the people serving and cooking were Indian men. Which is very odd as it is usualy English in there. I am not against Indians but do not like the food and the smell. So I bought my meal but I did not enjoy it as all I could think about was the smell. Have they been taken over? does anyone have any ideas?
