Afternoon all Have an easterbrook in my maternal side of the tree. thought i was on the right track and ordered a birth certificate of John Easterbrook, born 6 december 1849 ashburton, newton abbott. his father was james easterbrook and mother avis beard. my great aunt (98 years old) has now confirmed that my easterbrooks originated in ireland and moved to london in the 1800's. birth certificate is therefore no use to me.. anyone out there interested in the easterbrook side is more than welcome to the certificate - just leave me a note on this site and will send first class post to you regards geoff potter

Geoff, Hold on to that certificate. You could be right. I've lost track of the number of threads I've seen where people have based their research on family legend, only to discover it was just that. I've had to deal with the same stories with my family tree and have managed to disprove them. If you have marriage certificates, birth certificates and census records to back up your version then you are probably correct. Crista
