I just found out that my 4 greats grandfather Richard Titshall and his two brothers each married 3 sisters with the surname Frost in a village called Hacheston in Suffolk, and I have all the IGI info verifying they were the 3 Titshall brothers who married the 3 Frost sisters. How common is that do you think?

Nuffin like keeping it in the family, is it? LOL I read that wrong first of all, it looked as if the brothers married three girls each( 9) brides......

Can't imagine that happening very often lol

I have two brothers marrying two sisters in my tree. Again, this was a smallish village- I suppose they had much more limited chances of meeting people from further afield, after a few generations the whole village was probably related anyway!!!

Perhaps there were very few people to choose from in the village. I've found in my researches that my ancestors' villages tended to have a handful of family surnames. nell

My mum and her two cousins married my dad and his two sisters. In other words the first three of my paternal grandparents children all married into the same family. Margaret

I have 2 brothers and a sister marrying into the same family. First the sister married a widower and then her brothers married the widower's 2 daughters. Both families were farmers and I have noticed that farm owners tend to marry other farming familes. Crista

Hi Benjamin, It certainly looks like some kind of record. I do worry a little that you asid you had "all the IGI information verifying it", though. You can't verify anything with the IGI as some entries are mistranscribed and others a work of fiction. It is only really verified if you check films of original records. I know I probably sound pedantic but in my early researches the IGI sent me on several wild goose chases (and expensive ones). I'd like others not to make the same mistakes. Gwynne
