I was told today about a new telephone scam. A call purporting to have come from your Credit Card Company, (e.g. Halifax) and says that your Buying Pattern had suddenly changed and there is a debit of £179.00 goods bought from so and so. When you say that you haven't bought that item they will say "Have you still got your Credit Card in your possession?" When you say yes they will ask you to just read out the last three numbers on the strip at the back of the card, and they will be able to strike out the transaction and refund your money. Don't do it. If you give them the number you will find on your next bill a charge of £179.00. That number is all they need to use your Card on Internet Purchases.

Thanks for this warning. Hope no one gets caught. I have had money stolen from my account in the past and know how devastating it can be. We all need to be aware. Frances
