I wasn't a huge fan, but appreciate how talented she was... I know she didn't write this (just covered it), but I think it's relevant don't you ? Days Written by: R. D. Davies Published by: Davray Music/Carlin Music Corp. Thank you for the days, Those endless days, those sacred days you gave me. I'm thinking of the days, I won't forget a single day, believe me. I bless the light, I bless the light that lights on you believe me. And though you're gone, You're with me every single day, believe me. Days I'll remember all my life, Days when you can't see wrong from right. You took my life, But then I knew that very soon you'd leave me, But it's all right, Now I'm not frightened of this world, believe me. I wish today could be tomorrow, The night is dark, It just brings sorrow anyway. Thank you for the days, Those endless days, those sacred days you gave me. I'm thinking of the days, I won't forget a single day, believe me. Days I'll remember all my life, Days when you can't see wrong from right. You took my life, But then I knew that very soon you'd leave me, But it's all right, Now I'm not frightened of this world, believe me. Days. Thank you for the days, Those endless days, those sacred days you gave me. I'm thinking of the days, I won't forget a single day, believe me. I bless the light, I bless the light that shines on you believe me. And though you're gone, You're with me every single day, believe me. Days.

Paul, we have that song on a Christmas CD and my 20 year old grandson keeps playing it over and over again when he's in the car with me, in summer too. June

As was said, when you book a guest like this, you know what you're going to get, and I'm sure the makers of the programme weren't expecting a well spoken sober Shane McGowan. If I remember correctly Tara P T self destructed on the same show a couple of years ago. PS it was on ITV not BBC (not that it's relevant).

Hi, She was killed on December 18th 2000. Her mother Jean is still trying to bring to justice those responsible. http://www.kirstymaccoll.*com/information/news/ I have all her stuff. She was brilliant. Gwynne

I didn't see it, but what you see with Shane MacGowan is what you get. I love The Pogues stuff - Rum, Sodomy & The Lash is a great album. He was on 'This Week' (the late night politics programme with Andrew Neil, Diane Abbott & Michael Portillo) a couple of months ago, as well, though I can't remember what they were talking about.

What's worse is if it was 2K? and the BBC handed it over to children in need it would not cause as much of a stir as some drunk who has a talent but wastes it (as a lot of talented people do) sitting being controversial as usual in our living rooms, ah well the telly doesnt change much does it? Remember the sex pistols on TV just after 6pm news and the trouble that caused? As usual its all been done before. Pat x
