PMSL - knowing my family we would have creased up - even the "dearly departed one" would have been looking down and having a chuckle - we have warped senses of humour us lot :)

AN ageing undertaker had a brush with death . . . after falling 9ft into a grave during a funeral. Arthur Cambrey, 80, was blown off his feet by a gust of wind as he moved flowers from the coffin, which was lying next to the newly-dug plot. Dismayed mourners looked on as he tried and failed to climb the earth walls to get out. Colleagues teetered on the slippery edge and tried to pull him up, but Arthur remained stuck. He was finally rescued after 15 minutes when graveyard staff were alerted and trundled over to the plot with a dumper truck and ladder. The veteran funeral director emerged in his mud-covered suit — and carried on with the delayed burial. He suffered a scratch on the head and was taken to hospital for a check-up after the service at Llanelli, South Wales. Arthur said: “It was a very rough and windy day and I was caught off balance and knocked down by the wind. “Nothing like this has ever happened to me before in more than 40 years in the business.” Mark Gilbraith, secretary of the Llanelli Joint Burial Authority, said: “It was a freak accident but could have been a lot more serious.” The grieving family were said to have been “very understanding” about Arthur’s accident.
