No, now you mention it we don't get tea breaks either. We have our own tea club and just work through. I'm getting used to cold tea. Also, now that I'm part-time I don't get paid for lunch breaks either. Good old civil service. Love the job though that's why I'm still doing it at hmmm how old am I now.

We didn't have tea breaks in the MOD either. And sometimes people get awfully confused between Civil servants and local government officers etc. Ann Glos

I agree! As a Canadian expat, the Brits are quick and helpful on calling back, transatlantic, too, with answers to questions

Nice to see positive remarks about Civil servants for a change. Some of them do work quite hard for less pay than they would get in private employment. (It has always been known that they get less pay because of their non contributary pensions!!) Ex Civil servant Ann Glos

Having been trying to track down my Father for the last 15 years without success. Through this site managed to find out that he had died. No trace of death at FRC so established he had died abroad, eventually pinned this down to Spain. Was desperate for info so but request on this site. Someone suggested the British Consulate in Spain. E-mailed them 3 weeks ago asking for advice and they have just contacted me saying that they have tracked down a copy of his spanish death cert which they are sending me and will help me try to find where he is buried - what a great service and all completely free of charge. Anyone else had such a good experience - Jusy got to wait for the certiificate to arrive now. Sam
