Hi Pat, thank you. Scottish Gaelic comes from Irish Gaelic so even though there are some differences a lot of words are still the same. Christine

Have a happy day folks. Do you actually celebrate? Hubby has gone off to work wearing his tartan tie but doubts whether any of his collegues will realise the significance. Last night in a throwaway line he pondered out loud whether I would be serving haggis for his meal this evening. Well of course I have a few by me???? I will see if I can find one in town, S.E. Kent. He may be lucky.

Well, part of the theme of my husband's service on Sunday was about St Andrew - there are legends about him, but we don't know many actual facts; we don't know for sure whether or not he ever came to Scotland. W DO know that he was an introducer - for instance, he introduced his brother Simon, who became Peter, to Jesus, and he introduced the boy with the loaves and fishes to Jesus. And St Andrew's Day is my birthday, and Bob's birthday, and Winston Churchill was born on St Andrew's Day. Wot a good day!! And I went to see Crystal Palace play for my birthday treat!!! :) Joy

Kind friends and companions, come join me in rhyme Come lift up your voices in chorus with mine Let us drink and be merry, all grief to refrain For we may and might never all meet here again . Here's a health to the company and one to my love Let us drink and be merry all out of one glass Let us drink and be merry, all grief to refrain For we may and might never all meet here again

Lang may your lum reek! Oh my house looks like a midden! Happy St Andrews Day everyone. For a little nation like ours we have given the world some incredible cures and inventions. Think we are blessed. Just going to put my Scotland flag up in the garden. Black Watch kilt and jacket on. Hubby is getting worried. Oh Flower of Scotland, when will we see. the like again.... (no argument intended here)

Aye, here's tae us! D'ye think we'll ever get a national holiday for this? It'd be really useful as yesterday was my birthday, so I could go out & party without having to take an extra holiday from work each year. And Google have St David's, St George's & St Patrick's day logos but not one for today.... If anyone's wondering what happens in Scotland to celebrate this 'non-holiday' have a look at this website.... http://www.scottisharts.org.uk/1/artsinscotland/music/standrewsday.aspx Aye K.
