Sorry Sandra, it's so difficult to express the tone of what you type. I didn't mean what I said in a defensive way, I was just trying to illustrate that we do have a lovely mix of people on here. There are quite a few mature people but also some less experienced, younger people like myself and Steedie. Love becxxxxxxxxxx

Sandra, I diddnt mean to offend either. It's hard to show expressions on here. I have looked at the so called chat rooms on other sites and got sick of the filth that most show. Thats why I choose this board. Just one thing more..... No I havent been to any of your meets and therefor havent met any of you ...but.... When can I be classed as a reg? lol

I agree that all members should be able, within reason, to put what we like on the boards. I'm an oldie but a newbie (3 months) to GR. The boards are interesting and a real good laugh at times which is what we all need but sometimes it does get really ridiculous - going for a cuppa, going to bed, putting the cat out etc etc - surely that's Chat Room stuff and unfortunately these are inclined sometimes to completely take over what the original thread was about. I've been so exasperated at times trying to find where the proper thread ended and the other stuff took over, I've even found myself responding to the nonsense. I think it's a bit disrespectful to the person who started the thread; if people don't think a thread is interesting then don't read it but also please don't let us just take it over with something totally unrelated. Lynda You are one of the oldest members on GR (ooooh ooooh not age......membership lol) You have helped so many people, talked sense and made us all laugh. I for one do not want you to stop posting your threads on here. Your contribution on these boards is invaluable. Your friendship priceless. Take a little time out from genes but please return with your jokes, your help & your sense of humor. Elaine xx

Elaine Totally agree with you, and I am surprised there has not been more answers to Lynda's post. I am very sorry she feels she has had enough, what a terrible lose to GR members, all the look ups she has done for people and all the laughs and banter we have had on the general board. I do hope maybe a short break will help her to realise how valuable a member she is and how much she will be missed and she will miss the fun and laughter we all need from time to time. Oh and another thing Lynda do think about what your doing we really cannot afford to lose an Arsenal fan at the moment we need the supporters to stick together. LOL Take Care Pat x

I have come in late to this discussion, haven't beeen on here all day. Well said sandra, I do agree with all you said. I don't mind the jokes, we all need a laugh and sometimes a music thread is fun becaue it is nostalgic, but sometimes there are too many of them at once, preferable perhaps to keep them all on one thread. I am enjoying the pantomime, the cast and participating audience (how many are silent peepers like me?) have done extremely well. I too miss threads like poets pot and Jim tried to start one similar this week (something about a fugue) but, probably because of the title, it didn't catch on. the one liner threads, some were funny to start with and then got a bit much and really would be better on the Chat board which is where things like that used to be. Elaine's link the word thread and other similar threads are good fun and make you think. there are some good threads on at the moment so maybe we are turning the corner. i qualify as an 'oldie' on both counts, agge and length of 'service' and I don't want to seee people leave that I have got to know. I have to add that like June I do prefer to chat to people who either have first nmes that are recognisable or nicknames that remain constant. Oh yes, and Linda, please by all means have a break but come back to us soon. Ann glos

I made my comments on Bendy Wendy's thread, but basically to me it is like the Telly. If I can't find an interesting programme I will turn it off. If I can't find an interesting thread I won't bother with the Board. We just need a lower percentage of nonsense, that's all I ask. Jim
