SCHOOLGIRL Chloe Riley has been abandoned by the one person she thought she would always be able to count on. Like most other 14-year-old girls, Chloe should be busy planning shopping trips with friends and studying for her GCSEs. But instead she is struggling to come to terms with a heartbreaking fact - her mother doesn't want her. The teenager, whose father died two years ago, came home from school one day to find her mother had walked out on the home they shared in Wirral. And, apart from a single text message, Chloe has had no contact with Stephanie Riley, 39, since. Merseyide police have tried to contact Mrs Riley, an IT teacher, without success. Officers have now launched a joint investigation with Wirral council's social services. It is believed Mrs Riley is living in Haydock with her 29-year-old lover, known only to Chloe as Alex. The schoolgirl, from Birkenhead, bravely tried to keep going, telling no-one she had been abandoned, trying to keep up her schoolwork and holding the family home together, all the time hoping her mother would return. But after two weeks of coping alone Chloe came home from school to find herself locked out. Her mother had cancelled the tenancy and council officials changed the locks on the house in Norman Street they believed was empty. It was then that Chloe knew she could no longer pretend things would get better. She called her half-sister, Lisa McLoughlin, and poured out her terrible secret. Now Chloe, a pupil at one of Wirral's top schools, is living with Mrs McLoughlin and has just a few clothes and possessions to her name. The family say they have received no help or support from social services since Chloe's mother walked out of their lives two months ago.

Our two children's birth mother did a similar thing on a regular basis, and the children were younger than 14 (although that's bad enough). Poor kid, she must wonder what she's done to deserve this.

As if being abandoned isn't bad enough - I want to know why the 'jobsworths' at the council haven't allowed her back in to the house to get some of her belongings!!! maggie
