We have big windows which are double glazed with the top sections leaded. Its either nets or nothing. I can't find any alternative which looks right. For the moment the nets stay. Although we are not overlooked front or back I feel happier having the nets up as anyone for whatever reason trying to look in would find it difficult. Interesting that no matter what type of window covering you have up, so many of them are drawn shut even in the middle of the day. Sign of the times perhaps.

Like Jim we stay in a 2nd floor flat which is overlooked by high flats opposite, so as well as curtains we have brown suede roller blinds, which we mostly keep half way down. In the bedroom we have voiles. Christine

We live on the 2nd floor and are not overlooked so there is no need for nets. Apart from that I have a big blue roller blind which is kept about halfway down at this time of year because the sun shines in so far into the room that it is often dazzling. And right up in the summer cos the sun is directly overhead at noon and doesn't shine into the room at all.

Double glazed lead, and horizontal venetian blinds.......... Mommy, when they make double glazed leaded windows, the leads are put onto Both sides of the outside pane of glass.... if you are converting to lead, then I think that you will only have lead on the OUT side pane of glass only Unless you are having REAL leaded windows, of course...which may not be sealed, units..

We have creamy coloured thin venetian blinds on all our front windows. Have you tried voile panels instead of nets as they look nice. Lorrainex

I have vertical blinds. One of the reasons is that it is not obvious if you are away or not like it is when you have curtains. I am not a lover of curtains and we only have them at the bedroom windows at the back. Nets are definately old hat, although I have Voile in the conservatory, plus roof blinds. Ditch the net. By the way if you have a window cleaner he won't thank you for leading your windows, ours was so pleased when we had the double glazing fitted. Ros

Apart from Draw curtains. Do you have Vertical Blinds, horizontal blinds, lace curtains or nothing at all? We recentley moved into this house. We bought the curtains etc from the previous owner. The Draw curtains all around the house are very nice. But at the front of the house there are also plain cream coloured net curtains. Whilst they look nice from the inside of the lounge because wallcoverings, carpets etc. go with them, they look ghastly from the outside at all three windows. Although I like the vertical blinds that are very popular up here. Every house you look at seems to have them. I am sure they will soon be replaced by something different. Therefore I do not intend to buy any. I cannot NOT have nothing up at all, as I hate people to be able to see what you are doing during the day. I am ready to put my Christmas Tree up, but want to get rid of these cream net curtains. So I have been and brought some new net curtains. My daughter was nearly in tears. She says they are old fashioned and nobody has Nets nowadays. They are only for over Christmas then I am having the windows leaded. With old fashioned diamond shapes. Dare I put up these net curtains, will I be laughed at like my daughter says??? Jenny
