A football player had his finger ripped off as he celebrated a goal. Paulo Diogo, a midfielder with Switzerland's Servette, leapt onto a perimeter fence after setting up the a goal in his side's 4-1 win over Schafthausen. But his wedding ring got caught in the top of the fence. He severed the top two joints of the finger as he jumped back down. Doctors were unable to re-attach the finger joints and the player had the remaining part of his finger amputated. He was also shown a yellow card for his excessive celebration

Obviously he didn't pay attention at school where you are not allowed to wear jewellery while playing sports. I know a lot of footballers do wear rings, necklaces and earrings now, but you don't see rugby players doing it! nell

husband's boss did the same thing whilst at work. Caught it on the top rack, he also lost his finger. he says it a good excuse not to wear his ring.!!!!!!!! Big signs up now all round telling them not to wear any jewellery!!!

A mate of mine did it while sliding down a drainpipe after getting a ball from a roof - we were shocked, he seemed a bit matter of fact about it!

I'm going to save this and show to my sister. She gives me a lot of stick 'cos I don't wear my wedding ring at work. I work on a farm and the chances of getting it caught are quite high, at least she will now believe me these things can happen. I also don't have pierced ears, would also be a hazzard and I would need a general anaesthetic before anyone put holes in my ears!

Think this was an urban legend but I heard this about 15 years ago. A bloke ordered a take away Chinese curry from the local shop. Tucking in to his chicken curry meal, he suddenly came accross a rather tough peice of chicken. Thinking it was a bit of gristle he pulled it out of his mouth only to find it was part of a finger, with the nail still intact. Police were called & they took off straight for the takeaway sirens blazing. Turns out the chef was chopping the chicken for the curry, when his rather sharp knife slipped, cutting off part of his index finger. In the confusion that erupted, a junior chef had picked up the severed digit with the raw chicken and thrown it in the pot. When the police arrived the kitchen staff were searching in vain for the bit of missing finger ! (couldnt eat curry for ages after hearing that...gag gag !)
