Hi Benjamin, John Edmonds and Anne Tungate married in Lowestoft in 1735. Their 4xgt grandson Benjamin Edmonds married their 3x gt grandaughter Elizabeth Tyrrell in Lowestoft in 1865 - they were my gt grand parents. I think there is another connection but I have yet to prove that 4x gt grandfather John Spurden/Spurgeon is the brother of 5xgt grandfather Isaac. They are the ancestors of another set of gt grandparents. Thank Goodness for family tree maker, I could never lay it all out on paper. Gwynne

I think I have got this twice, I'm just not far enough back to prove it yet! Got the same surname in the same area in 2 separate branches that link up about 2 generations later. They do say that if you work backwards doubling up, or whatever it is you do to get the number of ancestors, there is a certain point at which your ancestors outnumber the total population, so there has to be a certain amount of inter-marrying. Over and over and over again! My paternal line came from a small, remote moorland village and the families intermarried over and over again. I have got the hang of it mainly, but it is confusing when one family gets a bit ahead of itself and I find two cousins marrying although they are a generation apart. This practice of marrying cousins might go a long way to explaining why I am so daft.

Hi Ben, my grandparents were cousins, does that count? Saves a bit of time because I have 2 lines the same! Maggy

Have any of you ever found that you are related to the same ancestor through two family lines. Just out of curiosity that is?
