the problem we have at the moment is that our GP practise has 10 drs - all great BUT at the moment there has been a big shake up there - and at the last count we saw 7 new ones in the last month!

Sheila, I've just seen this thread and I am so sorry what happened to you. It's appalling. What area are you in? I had a totally different experience two weeks ago. Had totally dead fingers on left hand and pains in arm and chest. Phoned NHS Direct for advice, they had ambulance at door in 15 minutes and I was in hospital 25 miles away, wired up, 20 minutes after that. Luckily got all clear - although still dead fingers. Does your own GP not have any clout, he should try to do something. I really hope your husband is OK. Regards. Jan

Hi She Just seen your thead.just come in from work. You must be psychic,I was going to mail you tonight ,to ask how Paul is. I would ring the hospital to ask where his x-rays have gone. Possibly they have put them in his file and not read faxes from your doctor about sending either x-rays or result of x-rays. PUT A BOMB UNDER THEM SHE,TELL THEM TO GET THEIR FINGER OUT. Sue

Paul was back at the Dr yet again today - they are not happy at all - they STILL havent had the details of his x-rays from the hospital and the GP is concerned as nothing seems to have improved enough - so another 2 lots of anti-biotics and more pain-killers - and waiting on appointment to go for another chest x-ray - this time a more detailed one. Lungs havent re-inflated yet - but because he can walk there will not be a bed for him - ah well, such is life

Sheila, I'm so sorry to hear about your husband and hope he will soon be better. Whilst I can understand bed rest at home is as good (probably better and less germ ridden ) than bed rest in hospital, sending you home on the bus is unforgivable. You should contact your local councillors and your M.P. The Doctors and Nursing staff are not at fault, it is the bureaucrats "running" the service who cause the problems. Rosemary(Essex)

Paul is recovering well - he is starting to be cheeky again so he must be on the mend . In a way I am glad he is at home - he can relax and snooze when he wants and have gallons of tea.

She That is really terrible they should be ashamed of themselves treating patients like that. Unfortunatley it seem to be the norm nowadays. I suggest you send that timetable to your local newspaper, MP and Tony Blair. I hope Paul is feeling a bit better now. Keep us informed of his progress please. Love to you both. Pat

She I do hope that Paul is recovering - I too think that home may be the best place for him. I wonder how his case will be shown in the statistics? Probably a successful discharge. Best wishes Bob

She.have only just seen this thread ,what a terrible thing to happen. Hope Paul is on the mend ,I know someone who had problems with collapsed lung and had the pain for months after being sent home as the bed was needed by someone who was "seriously" ill. You are both in my thoughts,Brenda
