Had a look at that www,Shelli. Quite an interesting fellow it seems was Major Peter. I surpose all our lives we get told what to do and when to do it, so i guess if you want to be buried upside down as your last wish,Why not!!!! On a serious note! ( snicker.) I was thinking that if there thinking about Freezing you now, and putting you in a plastic bag, and burying you upright, i might just put in my Will to tie a wooden stake to my legs, and cover me in Lemon cordial before they Freeze me. That way my decendants could brag that there grandad was buried as an "Icicle Pop".!!!! Tony Oz.

There used to be a very amusing book called Grave Humour,I'm not sure if you can still get it.Also' The Emperor of Abasinia and other Great British Eccentrics' Full of amusing anecdotes. I think one of Dorsets mad Drax were 'buried' above ground in a structure raised on a hill on their estate.Another was buried in a pyramid and had a copy of the Times and a bottle of vintage port delivered daily to his tomb. I love this type of eccentricity.I want to go out with a New Orleans Marching band and for my relatives to have a real Hootenanny of a Wake. Rose

whilst staying on Gugh, in the Scilly Isles a few years ago I was told that one of the previous inhabitants had been buried upright facing the sea amongst a pile of rocks. Unfortunately the pigs had dug him up, so I dont recommend it.

In Foleshill/Coventry cemetary, one of my family graves has four "people" in it..one on top of the other.I have the documentation on it and it says..nine feet deep and cost 1 pound twelve and sixpence, forever (can't spell the proper word) lol Kaye.

Hi Kaye. I was in Hong Konk last year on a tour, and the bus driver was telling us that you lease or rent a burial plot for a certain amount of time, and if you or your loved ones dont pay up to renew the lease "up you come" He went on to explain, that this is why many people over there have the bones of there Ancestors at home. Apparently, one Chap has the bones of his Grandfather sitting on a chair in his garden. Tony Oz

Hi Tony, Couldn't help having a laugh..maybe thats where the saying comes from...."dead on my feet". Seriously though, amazingly we must be short on land, because just recently my brother was notified that the 25 years for my parents resting place is up. Springvale Crematorium is having lot's of problems finding "next of kin" to notify them to cough up with another load of cash, or else we'll scatter your family !! Thank goodness when the time comes, I shall be laying down in eternal comfort in husbands family vault !! Kaye in hot humid and sticky Sydney.
