I have just been sitting here contenplating my naval. And began to wounder Why are Census records Kept so secret. Perhaps not so much pre computer age but now we can find out nealy every thing on them by just looking it up on one site or another. My name must be on 30 or more computers most of them being easily accessed by any one. Ican hear the shout from here Yes I know there are sensative areas, but the stuff that is not could be relesed sooner. My whole family, my age, where I live and dozens of other minor things could easly be relesed now with out any harm comeing to me that could not come some other way. Enough Soap box any one got any other opinions.

I agree Peter, the 1911 census should be released it surely doesnt contain anything that would be harmful these days, can it? Pat x

Mary has a point there, I was thinking that my Father in law (if he was still here) would be on the 1911, Mother in law just misses it. But in the hospital where I work, we have a fair number of patients who would be on 1901, and we still have access to that, so why not 1911? Sue

I honestly can't see the sense it it. You can get as much information by other methods if you want. For instance Electoral Rolls, Kellys street directories etc. Then if you want other info to rob an identity you could pose as a family member and order certs, look in parish records and so on. I think it's an archaic law, and the Government could exploit all the other census financially the way they have the 1901. You'd think they would cotton on and change the law wouldn't you?

Perhaps we need to find a way of turning the early release of the 1911 into a vote catcher, now that might swing it. The 1901 was released while there were still people living who were named on it so can't see the problem with the 1911. Jan
