If it's boring - make it interesting. Don't expect everyone else to. It's a community on here and a team effort is needed to keep it strong.

I quite agree with you Daniel, but it seems at the moment that even the best efforts of those trying to make it interesting are being undermined and overtaken by other things. I'm not complaining though - perhaps it just needs to be silly for a while and when that is played out the more interesting threads will stand a chance again - and then the silliness will come back - and so on and so on. Each to their own - the site will still be here, and we can all be here or elsewhere as we choose too.

Winter Drawers Ever Near Report 7 Dec 2004 20:54

Sorry am I losing the plot here. Are there people on here who in reality live in a plastic bubble or walk around with rose coloured glasses on. Do they not discuss what's in the newspapers or on the news with other people. Laugh and cry at funny jokes and situations. Discuss music, hobbies, problems etc. Last time I looked I thought it was called LIFE. What makes this any different. It's beginning to look like this is a primary school.... you always get one who has to grass to the teacher.

Daniel Report 7 Dec 2004 20:55

All it takes i a nudge, not even that, just a reply, to bring it back. It's not lost forever. If you feel something needs to be discussed then discuss it and keep it on page one.

A grown up debate is also accepting the other person's point of view without turning it into a personal slanging match. I also think we all get lazy and don't bother to go down the boards to pages 2 and 3 or even 4 to see if we have missed an interesting topic which is why they slip away. it is so easy to just concentrate on the topics up the top of the board and think anything else has been fully commented on. I have asked GR to consider making the Chat Board threaded so that those who only want to inform their inner circle that they are going for a coffee may do so there. Message has been received and is being evaluated.

Hi Daniel, I think we may be all different and some even live in different countries but I think we probably all joined genes reunited with the same idea in mind - to find our ancestors. When we first joined we were probably on the records board or the tips board most of the time and then we found the general board and found that interesting too. I particularly found it interesting listening to life in Great Britain and I think it is great that we have a big age range on these boards. We all have something to contribute and it would be great if we could enjoy our differences. Christine
