I've finally got round to reading this novel and think it's a really good read. I wish I could find the time to read more as I always have this un-nerving feeling that classics are passing me by that would really inspire me. What other good stuff has anyone read recently that you'd recommend ?

Hi Simon I tend to read thrillers. I was never much into reading as a youngster. But the other day I was helping my daughter with her English Lit homework and had to read some excerpts from Great Expectations. I think I might have to give it a read. It really gripped me Jeanette x

That sort of presents another problem doesn't it - aside from all the probably excellent modern books that you'd love to read, there's also a major list of classics that you'd like to get through (even if only to say that you've read them !).

I'm reading The Curious Incident.... at the moment, and enjoying it. Also really enjoyed The Number 1 Ladies Detective Agency recently.

Have recently read this - found I couldn't put it down - such a different read - I found I was reading at pace as though someone was actually talking - would really recommend it - must be going back to childhood as I am now reading 'Harry Potter' ......... its good

Christine, must admit to having read all the Harry Potter book and enjoyed them all. Can't get into the Lord of The Rings books though. Maggy

Nothing wrong with Harry Potter - whatever your age; can't wait for 'HP and the Halfblood Prince' to come out.

Last Christmas hubby bought me the last in the series of Harry Potter and I put it to one side....in the summer bought the first four and am now on to 'The Chamber of Secrets' (the first thick one). I don't know if it is a good thing or not but I tend to speed read...I enjoy the story and the action but I don't retain ... can be quite good for me because, with thrillers etc., I can read and read again after a year - and I don't remember 'who dunnit' !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes a fantastic book especially for those who know someone on the autistic spectrum. I cried at the end - most unusual for me, usually a tough nut! Maz. XX

Too lazy to read many new books these days, but I do listen to A Book at Bedtime. I've found lots of good modern authors that way (and usually have to get the book to find out how it ended!) B
