My son's kakariki (bird) died today,my son is only eight and this his the first pet to die and he was in a terrible state,as we came home from shopping and he was on the bottom of the cage (not dead)we got him out and put him into a box with a towel, while i tried to phone RSPCA closed PDSA closed VET not intrested as they don't really know about birds! I felt so helpless as my son sat and watched him die and there was nothing we could do :(((( Nicky

I'm sorry to hear about your son's bird and it will be hard, it always is when we lose a friend. I'm also really surprised by the attitude of the vet, although there was probably nothing he could do, that is not the way they should treat you. If you have another pet change your vet, ours specialises in birds although he was our farm vet. Big hug for your son and for you having to cope with it all. Ros
