You hardly ever need to go to the actual church. They have usually deposited their old records with the local archives. This makes it much more convenient for you because they're all in one place! It also avoids pestering the vicar who probably has better things to do!! Anne

Hi Elise I am answering this as best I can as I am not absolutely sure but as non of the experts have replied yet I will give it a go. Can I assume that you know about familysearch and 1827 online? If so, I think the only other option (and I am sure someone will correct me here if I am wrong) is to go to the local records office or archives office for the area you are interested in. I hope this reply will spur someone else with more knowledge to respond. If you need any help I will do my best if you e-mail me but you would probably get more expert help by putting your query on the tips or records board. Chrissie

Can someone please tell me how I can get information from the parsh records that were/are kept by the church's without actually going to the church? I am looking for numerous records from The Holy Trinity Church & St James Church in particular. I am looking for baptism, marriage & death records. Any help would be greatly appreciated Elise
