A few of years ago I was doing a sales job for our local telephone company. This was a while before I got into family history. We were based in a village called Keyingham for about a week. I knocked on the door of yet another house and a lady answered who looked kind of familiar - but I didn’t know her. We got chatting and she said her surname was Brady. I told the lady that we must be related in some way as she looked just like my great Aunt and her father had been Joseph Brady. She came back to see me a couple of days later with photos of her family - and I had some of mine. Neither of us recognised each others family or any of the names mentioned. We thought it must just be a coincidence. A couple of weeks ago while I was checking through Name Summary on here I noticed that somebody had added my great Grandfather Joseph Brady. I sent the lady an email asking her what her connection was. She was the Granddaughter of Joseph’s brother George - so my second cousin once removed. We exchanged a few emails and then it dawned on us - we had met before. Yes, it was that lady I had met while out selling. No wonder she looked like my great Aunt then! lol. We are hoping to meet up again over the Christmas holidays. Can’t wait! Jeanette x

About 10-12 years ago when I first started my family tree I was working part time in a local office. The young men who worked there knew I was doing research and one in particular was very interested, said he had always wanted to trace his family and asked me the name I was following which at the time was 'Long' - he told me his mothers maiden name was Long but I didn't recognise her first name or that of his other relations - all my 'Longs' followed a pattern of Edwards and Marys. I left it at that for a few months until I mentioned his mother's name to my aunt who immediately told me all the other names he had mentioned - she even described him to a 'T'. It seemed that this young man's grandfather and my grandfather were brothers born 25 years apart. The next time I went into the office I told him and he was amazed - not only that but he had lots of family papers and I gained a whole new family.......just goes to show you never ever know who you are talking to.
