Postie Paul, Yes he did have to go to my house to deliver the card but his truck was parked at the end of the road. I think the Beano Annual was far too heavy for him to carry! Lol

Tipping is a very difficult issue and it gives me a lot of worry. In the catering industry wages are low and the employees often rely on tips to make up their living wage.On which they are taxed incidently. This then encourages employers NOT to pay well.It is a viscious circle. Then in some countries it has been taken to the extreme and the gratuity has reached the level of a bribe. You won't get anything done UNLESS YOU BRIBE. Some African countries are now so hide bound with bribery that this has lead too widespread corruption. So how can I say Thankyou to the people who I feel have done a good job for me through the year.I like the idea of chocs and packs of beer etc.Moneythen doesn't come into it.-Confused Rose

nope.that might sound mean but i think we pay enough council tax and feel that due to this i refuse to give them a tip.alot of places aren't allowed to take money from customers and they should be the samexxx(:

I was going to tip my mailman this year....until yesterday. He left a card in my mailbox to say I needed to pick up a parcel from the post office as he couldn,t deliver it. After waiting in a queue for 15 minutes, I was handed my daughters Beano annual. The lady at the post office said my mailman was just too lazy to deliver it to my house!!

always used to tip - refuse men/paper boy/milkman/postman/coalman - only have refuse men/postman out of that lot now - never see refuse men - come about 6.30 but always give a card with a tip enclosed to the postman.

Always tip the postie. Being a trademan myself, i usually get a few tips at Christmas. Sometimes a bottle of red, or a Lotto scratchie. Did a job in the posh area of Melbourne last year, and received a leg of smoked ham. Hoping for a new car this year...LOL Tony Oz

20 years ago at this time of year we used to put out cards with money in for the dustmen, milkman, paper boy/girl postman and the fish man. Now we only have the refuse operatives who came round yesterday dressed in Santa outfits. Since they come at 07:30 and move so quickly (we have to take the wheely to the road) I doubt if many people saw them. The question is: Does anyone leave tips for tradesmen/women these days? Bob
