Winter Drawers Ever Near

Winter Drawers Ever Near Report 15 Dec 2004 10:48

I've got Jack he's 4 and Emily is nearly 6 mths. What does being a grandparent mean to you? Aren't they just wonderful those little darlings. My little man holds the door open when I visit him. Come in Nanny, want some cheese on toast? Standing joke. Emily is all chuckles, just adores Jack. My mother always said, You love your children, but grandchildren are someithing else. She's right. None of life's hassles just quality time with them. Never had to tell my grandson off for anything. Just fun, fun, fun. I've had so much fun with my grandson. He has truly enriched my life and everyone around him. Little Emily will enrich it even more.Beautiful looking child and a chuckly one too God bless everyone with grandchildren. They are very special little people. PS Reliving my childhood again. Brilliant. Blame it on the grandkids!! Aileen

Watching them when they are so excited by ordinary things like water disappearing down the drain and reading the numbers on buses. Heather

I think some of you know that our 9 years old grandson lives with us and always has done, so I had to smile at that part of the posting that says 'None of life's hassles', Yes well! Tell me that when my 3 adult children and the youngster all are trying to get ready to leave at the same time in the morning. Seriously though, having a young one teaches us to look at simple things with a new pair of eyes, whether it's delighting at the many foot scrapers we can spot in old streets, collecting conkers or picking blackberries,or wrapping up warmly to beachcombe on a clear winter's day. It's such fun being a grandparent.

I have only got one grandchild - Blossom who's two and a half. She's delightful, inquisitive and a very gentle soul who likes nothing better than making crumble!! Grandchildren bring back memories of your own children, but us grandparents have the time to remember what they did without getting caught up in the day to day hassles their parents have. Little Blossom (and her mum and aunt) are going to spend Christmas with her Pops (my ex )this year - but next year it wil be my turn - I can't wait!! maggie
