Went up to Granny's today to try and get some info on her rellies (She's in her 80s).....well she told me how to make rugs out of rags......how to black lead the grate the proper way.......how to make home made gripe water (it's a wonder we all survived!!) ........and how (believe this or believe this not) urined mixed with pidgeon droppings makes home made bleach for clothes!!....and no I didn't find out any names....Sue xx

Aah Bless her, I used to love listening to my Dear Grans old tales!, have also heard the one about black-leading, and how in her day "children were seen and not heard"! :) Just wish she was still here..

My granny never associated grandad's nightly attentions with what followed 9 months later . It was an act of God that followed the Marriage Sacrament! (heard that from my mum) She also believed that if there was no bulb in the electric light socket, the electricity would escape and electrocute everyone in the house. She told me so. Len
