Here's the article that was in the Daily Mirror today: A miracle meal can help men live up to six and a half years longer it is claimed. The menu, devised by scientists, will also prolong women’s lives by an amazing five years. Polymeals work by cutting the risk of heart disease and consist of dark chocolate, wine, fish, fruits, vegetables, garlic and almonds. Each ingredient is known to be beneficial but together they provide a special cocktail of prevention – allowing men another nine years untroubled by heart complaints and women about eight. Top chef Raymond Blanc has now devised a three course dinner from Polymeal fare. He suggests Watercress soup followed by grilled fillet of mackerel with chocolate mouse desert. The meals should be regular, but not every day with the Dutch inventors saying fish should only be eaten four times a week. And the life enhancing scoff is not without considerable risk – to your pride. A member of the team said garlic could literally reek havoc on your love life by giving you bad breath and BO. A concerned researcher added “we do not recommend taking the Polymeal before a romantic rendezvous, unless the partner also complies with the Polymeal. And they warn that without all the items taken together, especially the wine, the diet is far less effective. A small glass reduces risk of cardiovascular disease by a third and fish by 14 percent. One hundred grams of dark chocolate cuts blood pressure as do fruit and veg. Garlic and almonds cut cholesterol. Scientists created the Polymeal to find a safer and tastier alternative to the Polypill developed last year. It’s combination of drugs tackle heart disease but it is expensive and with side effects. Instead researchers looked at dozens of different foods known to help health. They took the best and added together the benefits. Phew - that took a bit of typing!!!! Kxx

It is in the mail. They were trying to come up with a combination of foods that would replace some pill or other, can't remember what it was called. a natural way to protect your heart by lowering cholesterol and BP. Some of it was eating fruit and veg (I think still 5 a day), oily fish four times a week, just over 3 oz of dark chocolate a day and a glass of red wine (although the latter not every day) Ann Glos

I saw that in the paper today. Scientists came up with the perfect menu (not to be eaten every day) but it's only effective if the whole lot is eaten together (especially the red wine!!!!) Kxx
