Far too much Joanne LOl I'm always glad when Christmas Eve arrives and the shops close, then you can't spend anymore. Christine

I set a limit for everyone and stick to it otherwise it gets out of control. It's not a high limit either so I get a thrill out of hunting for great bargains - for example yesterday at the Next clearance shop I got 4 mens 100% lambswool scarves (really lovely!) for only £1 each! What a bargain! That's the grandads sorted!! Joanne

Never have a budget, I just buy what I think they will like and really want, sometimes this is cheap sometimes expensive.

Tend not to set a budget as such, as we are a fairly small family and not too many to buy for. But I wouldn't spend a huge amount more on one person than another. I just try and get everyone things I think are individual to them and that they will like. I haven't really stopped and added it all up - maybe about £300 altogether? Mandy :)

I don't think there is anything to be ashamed of in spending a small fortune on your loved ones, so long as you can afford it and do not go into debt because of it. My sons are grown up, though I have no grandchildren as yet. But I still love to buy lots of things to surprise them, and their girls, at Christmas. I get a great deal of pleasure from it, and where is the harm in that?

Little kb, just wondering how old your daughter is? I'm sure she isn't spoiled. I was an only child, the only thing I was 'spoiled' with was love, there was always so much of it. If I wanted anything, I had to wait for birthdays or Christmas. Not boasting here, only being honest, but I would much rather give than receive, it hasn't made me turn out selfish at all. My son is also an only child, he is 16 now. We have always given him whatever we could afford at Christmas and birthdays, and maybe some treats in between. Yet he isn't selfish either and always shares anything he has. If he thinks his nan is offering him too much money, he won't accept it! So don't worry Kb, how your child turns out doesn't just depend on the amount of money you do or don't spend on them. Mandy :)

My Daughter told my wife do not go over the top with prezzies for the girls (our Granddaughters). I am waiting for chrimbo morning to hear my daughter go over the top with my wife for buying two great big boxes of prezzies for the girls. my wife will be in the dog house for months> But we love them and we have no one to spend it on so we don't care
