Let's have a Christmas toast to all those we wish could be with us this Christmas - who do you miss?

....for me it's all the people of my grandparents generation who were so much a part of Christmas, and particularly a couple of friends I have lost in the last couple of years - my oldest friend Mary, and very good friend Sam(antha) who both died young.

My best friend, who sadly passed away in May at the age of 34 and my mum's lifelong best friend who died suddenly last weekend. But especially to my beloved nan, who has been gone 23 years but I still miss her like it was yesterday - Christmas was so much fun with her around, having had several sherries too many she would then launch into her own versions of nursery rhymes! Love Mandy xxx

Mandy, Sympathy to you and all who have lost good friends and rellies. My own beloved Grandma died in 1993, and I can still see her walking around her kitchen wearing a christmas hat and clutching a carving fork singing "When the red red robin comes bob bob bobbing along" - think that might have had something to do with sherry too!! Kind friends and companions, come join me in rhyme Come lift up your voices in chorus with mine Let us drink and be merry, all grief to refrain, For we may and might never all meet here again. So here's a health to the company, and one to my love Let us drink and be merry all out of one glass. Let us drink and be merry all grief to refrain, For we may and might never all meet here again.

Am sure those we love never really leave us - we just can't see them any more. Went to the funeral of a 96 year old friend last week, and the analogy of a ship going over the horizon was used - just because we can't see it, doesn't mean it isn't there. At a meeting the next night when MJ (as 96 year old friend liked to be known) would have been there in person, it felt like she was with us in spirit. Am also sure my Grandma is still around somewhere - talk to her often!!
