Daniel you should change the title of this thread to "Which vacuum cleaner do you use"? A "Hoover" is a type of vacuum cleaner, which you undoubtedly will know. Just being informative, no malice. Love, Sylvia xxx |

Had one of the first Dysons for several years but it started to die and I thought I might prefer a cylinder to an upright this time. Several people recommended a Henry but we have one at school and it stinks, so that put me off lol!! So I've now got a cylinder Dyson and I love it, works very well and really easy to drag around. Not sure what my cleaning lady thinks of it though, perhaps I should ask her?? Mandy :) |

Mandy Suggest if your school has a henry that smells that when your cleaner is around that you get the airfreshener out and spray. She should by rights get the message,if she don't get the message then ask the supervisor to check the Henry. I use 3 Henry's at 3 different sites and my Henry's don't smell only sweetly cos I put blocks of airfreshener just under the lid. Sue |

I've had a Miele Cat & Dog for about 6 years now - works a treat - only negative is that the bags cost a lot - £10 for 5. For Derek who was looking for a C&D vaccum - if you look for this one as recommended it's now Blue :)) |

An Olde Crone | Report | 19 Dec 2004 22:26 |
I have a Dyson which Ive had about 10 years(?). After about a year it wasnt working properly so took it to my little man. When I went to collect it he said sternly to me "Have you ever cleaned this thing out?" and showed me the most revolting blue grey sausage of tightly packed muck at least six feet long which was wedged in the hose. Blush blush! I now regularly change filters and prod hose for lurking sausages of muck ( a bent wire coathanger is ideal for this task). I love my Dyson! Had a Miele before that, v good but oh, the cost of the bags! and a replacement hose was going to cost nearly £100 - I ditched it. |

Anyone else got a Vorwerk? - not available in the shops. Had mine for about 9 years and I'm too embarrassed to say how much it cost; but it's still FANTASTIC, so obviously worth the money. |

Meile bags - there are much cheaper versions on sale in markets/hardware shops/supermarkets which work perfectly well and come complete with filters. Usually about £4 - 5 for box of 5. Shop around. Ann |

Daniel I think you should have a little project over the holiday to do a bar graph or some such and see which vacuum cleaner gets most/least points, and then present us with the results. Why buy Which? when you can get the lowdown here? nell |

I have a Vax, it works well but is a bit heavy to lug up and down the stairs. My daughter has had a cylinder Dyson for about 6 years, she bought a new beater attachment for it recently and it works well. Mum has a small Hoover cylinder vac, it is light and picks up very well but a nightmare to change the bags! Heather |
