Wow! Yes and I remember getting stilts one year and a Space Hopper. A Tiny Tears and Sindy with her little sister Patch, I had the Sindy Wardrobe too and Bedroom Set. I remember having a skiing outfit for her - black ski pants, a royal blue quilted anorak with white fur trim hood, ski boots and skis. I remember one year getting a game called Dizzy Bug - a lady bird that use to spin round - does anyone else remember that? Another time I got a portable record player - it wasn't a Dancette it was a Furguson one I think - like a suit case with an orange bottom and white/grey lid. and I also remember getting an organ with a seat and everything. When I was very small I got a giant doll called Big Sindy which was big enough to wear proper clothes, I must have been very young because she was nearly as big as me, my daughter played with her also when she was little - my minds working overtime now trying to think back...... can anyone smell burning?

I always seemed to enjoy the boxes best - cant remember what was in any of them - but really clearly remember making a galleon out of one box big enough to sit in and a tank for my action man out of another, with eggbox tracks generously donated by my mother. to be honest i still enjoy the wrapping best, both giving and receiving, and have been known to spend more on the presentation than the present.

My favourties were a Tressy doll and a Sindy doll (not the same yr) I also had the black Dalek and the silver one which didnt work that well... Now I wished my mum had never passed them on to my cousins as they would be worth a fortune now... I also had a great pencil case kit that I loved..

I remember my twin dolls pram and my Sally Happy Talk doll. My Mum sat up for nights making the covers for it. And another time my Dad made us Stilts, better than any shop bought ones. I loved Tressy and Sindy too but my favourite Christmas was when I was about 10 (1971) and I got a Fidelity Record Player. Loved it and my first album I still have with songs like Brand New Key and I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing. I remember my brother getting Eval Kineval stunt man. Anyone remeber that? Christine

Hi Paul, I'm not too much older than you so I recognise all those things! I didn't have a chopper bike but remember all the boys in our street having them. I loved my Tiny Tears, and Sindy (even got a wardrobe for her one year!), had a Silver Cross dolls pram too. I also had a lovely doll with long blonde hair wearing a green velvet dress. She talked when you pulled a string in her back. Mandy :)

My best present ever was a doll's house. We were rather hard up and my parents told me they couldn't afford it. But they got me a second-hand one, which they hid, and when I came down on Christmas day and opened my presents, I didn't see the large wrapped one behind the door - I can remember my excitement as I was convinced I wouldn't get a doll's house. Many, many years of pleasure! I also remember being a little older and getting book tokens, gift tokens and money and going to Croydon on the bus the first day the shops were open. I was always in a dilemma - 5/- for a hardback Enid Blyton (they were yellow with her famous signature embossed in purple) or two paperbacks for 2/6 each - a popular publisher was Armada. The thrill of opening the books on the bus home and smelling that new paper smell... nell

Paul, our son had one of those in about 1970. I'm a child of the 40s, I loved my dolls pram, even though it was second hand. i also had a wonderful dolls house made by my Dad with carpets, wall paper and working lights. He also made me a child's size dresser for my china tea set which Mum fought for in a queue at the toy shop (they only had one), remember this was war time. My daughter still has the dresser and Tea set in her loft. (she had all boys!!). And I remember a doll which is also in daughter's loft.. Always had a school friend album and Enid Blyton books (five series and secret seven), boxes of chocolate in the 50s after rationing finished were favourite presents. games tended o be the snakes and ladders, Ludo variety, also had one called kan U Go which was a word game like Lexicon. Just remembered 'Dragster' where you had to flick this ball which propelled a tiny plastic car and there were 5 lanes where the car could travel down. The winner was the first one to get all 5 cars parked.
