Not just dogs Elaine, what about horses - Princess Anne for example! Poodles are an example, some people really look like their pet pooch! Sylvia xxx

My mum and dad have been seperated for twenty something years now, but just sometimes my mum will turn around and jump, thinking my dad is in her house (she's now re-married). she says I look and sound just like him. I know my lips disappear when i'm angry and I bite my tongue literally, just like dad does.

I talk 'silly' to the dog exactly like my Mum, and my husband twitches when he's watching football, exactly like his Dad!

The weirdest thing I've come across, is that my Son looks similar to my father, has his mannerisims and the same hobbies. Son is now 34 and they have never met! (Due to family conflict) Jo.

I remember when my youngest daughter was born how much she resembled my mother in law. Sylvia xxx

That's just reminded me - now my cousin Thomas is bald and last time I saw him he looked more like his German mother's side of the family, but when he was about 8 and came for a visit, he and my brother (who is about a year or so younger) looked very alike. We've got a picture of one of them on the beach with his back to the camera and because the photo is black and white and we can't see the colour of his swimming trunks, we don't know which it is! They are related because their fathers were brothers, but I don't think that the brothers (my dad and uncle) lookedvery alike. Sometimes its just a facial expression, a gesture, a posture that reminds us of someone else. I've got a pic of my younger son looking just like my grandmother and another of him a few months later looking just like my husband's gran. nell

I walk around shops with my hands held behind my back, when my mum was over here for a holiday my hubby said watch your mum and there she was walking around with her hands together behind her back LOL I had never noticed before. Debs.

My dad was nearly bald and would have been glad to be able to curl his hair round his finger, haha! I don't know that I have any mannerisms from him, but now that I am older and a parent I feel I understand him more - too late of course. He died in 1990. I've got his quirky sense of humour - he was the only parent of kids in my class who thought Monty Python was funny. Certain kinds of classical music remind me of him and how he would sing along. I find myself saying to my children things that my mum said to me and my brother. But I think I am a one-off! nell

Sylvia, this is even more weird .... I was adopted at 6 weeks and have never met my birth mother since, whilst my half-brother was brought up by her. Apart from looking similar, he says that sometimes he turns around and really has to catch his breath, because something I have said or done in a particular way is exactly like her. The 'nurture vs nature' debate is fascinating. Mandy :)

Does anything you do remind you of your mother or father? For instance, my father when he was tired used to curl his hair round his finger, and I find myself doing just the same! Weird or not? Sylvia xxx
