as anyone got a good recipes for mince pies please mine dont taste very good

Louise - have you any mincemeat left? Pour a little brandy in it and stir. Your pastry - is it homemade or frozen. If homemade - bind with eggyolk and use hot oven to cook. Good luck

They sound nice Carol,i usually buy them in ready made ,but i will persuade Liz to make some today whilst i do the meats and prepare the veg,i love some to round off the tea.Fred.ptfg.

I don't want to talk about mince pies! Hubby bought 48 from a guy who supplies the catering trade - we got mince pies in airtight boxes everywhere! Be eating them till March! And he bought a ham joint thats about the size of a large christmas turkey - we'll be eating that till april. Ham sandwich and mince pie anyone? Lisa

Corol's recipe looks good to me but I would tip the mincemeat out into a bowl and stir in a good slug of cheap sherry and mix it well. It is worth paying extra for better mince too. Also it is important to keep the pastry cold(wrap it in cling and put it in the fridge, roll on a cold surface and work it as little a poss or it will be tough. We made 5doz a week ago and are making more this afternoon Merry Christmas Bob
