Bexley Council have a very efficient recycling scheme. We have different coloured boxes and bins for paper, glass, plastics, tins, garden and kitchen waste and normal household waste. Normal and garden waste is collected weekly, the rest on a fortnightly basis. Different recycling trucks collect each box of recyclable materials. On the downside it takes me ages each week to sort all the different materials for collection, and all the different bins and boxes are a bit of an eyesore stacked up at the side of the house. Even worse for those in terraced houses or flats. Also every week, as I said, THREE different council trucks come down the road to collect all the stuff! How much energy and pollution must they cause? Merry Christmas everyone! Dee x

We have boxes for recycling - changing to bags in the new year. Put preasure on your council to bring in a proper scheme. as for green glass I belive a ship load is taken away each week for re-use. so it does get recycled. Bob

Call your council Sue and complain. Was reading this http://news.bbc.*co.uk/1/hi/uk/4122729.stm It's quite frightening really. Crista

We have fortnightly collections of bottles and cans. Mind you, I've heard it said (more than once) that there is no market in this country for green glass and most of it is buried anyway ...

How many of us will recycle most of our Christmas cards/wrapping paper/wine bottles/jars/cans and any recylable goods. We have only one set of recycle bins in Otley and they soon get full. So what people do over here is put it next to the bins and then people smash botttles and jars for fun. Its really annoying when you have to walk on the glass to get to the paper bin. Sue
