Clair, I t would be nice to view certificates but the powers that be thought that would be too easy & cheap! So, no, you can't view certificates (at least for England & Wales), but you can view the index and then order the certificate once you have the reference. Try free BMD to start off, this is not complete yet so you may not find what you want. Also try looking at the left hand bar on this site where it says New to GR to gets tips to start you off. Oh, and be careful, this is a very addictive hobby! Barbara

Hi Claire Unfortunately not. There is a site called 1837 where you can search to try and find the reference for a certificate but to see them you have to buy them. If anyone knows any different can they please tell me:)) Chrissie

Hi all, Is there a site where you can view certificates (marriage, birth, death etc) before paying?? I'm a beginner at this and am sort of lost! :/ thankx very much!
