Help - What age is 'Minor' on an 1852 Marriage Cer

I've an 1852 Marriage Certificate and the bride's age is 'minor'. Can anyone please tell me under what age she is likely to be so I can look for her birth Certificate. Cheers, Carol |

My guess would be less than 18 - only a guess though. |

I would say it would be under the age of 21, as in those days 21 was considered the age to become an adult. Not like today when we celebrate the age of 18 becoming adult. |

Ok Ok I'm out voted:)))))))))))) The only reason I said 18 was because I have 2 early marriage certificates and one gives the brides age as 18 and the other 20 but I know that the rest of you are right really. :)))) Chrissie |
