Just thought I would add to this...Im the snorer in our household, and very embarrassed about it too. My hub found a website that offered a device that you mould to fit your mouth with your jaw slightly forward. It works!! I am now the proud owner of the deluxe model...and no longer snore. Sue

If you have a partner that snores, I feel very sorry for you. I was one of them until my Doctor sent me off too the Papworth Hostpital to be monitored over night. After a few questions like, do you feel tired most of the time? Do you tend to fall asleep when driving? Do you fall asleep when watching Television or reading? Yes to all of those. They put me on a C.P.A.P. machine. I use it every night. Result, end of snoring. And I'm awake in the evening until I go to bed. I recomend sending your partner to the doctors and mention Sleep Apnia.

My husbands not too bad , I nudge him and it seems to work for a while , with each nudge it gets softer. It's my father who is so bloomin awful............you can hear him in the summer at the bottom of the drive ( and it's not a short drive either) He sleeps one end of the house and mother sleeps the other end ....... poor dear still hears him. Awful. lol Hence when we fly back home we stay in a hotel LMAO much happiness Debi

Both me and my partner snore! The lucky one is whoever gets to bed first............ We bought a bottle of "Snoreze" that you spray in the back of your throat and it actually works! Though not if you have had a drink Bev

Oh no - nobody can beat my hubby. He's always snored but got really bad the last few years. He needed to lose some weight, the doctor assured us that would work. So he lost two stone recently and ..... it's worse!!!! Went back to doctor who said that losing the weight has made his neck a bit flabby (pmsl here) and that when he loses some more, it will get better again. Good job I'm on good terms with our GP!! We've tried everything. The tennis ball or whatever in the back doesn't work because he snores whichever way he sleeps. Tried throat sprays and nasal sprays. Tried pinching, kicking, elbowing. Then doctor suggested I try pinching his nose; I said I was worried that he might stop breathing. Oh no, says the doctor, you can let go when he starts to turn blue (good sense of humour, our doc). I've come to the conclusion that he is auditioning for the elephant house at Bristol Zoo. Gerri - my sentiments exactly - I only love my husband during daylight hours. Mandy :((

Pat Report 30 Dec 2004 01:17

My Diane is that the Beach Boys or Batchelors? LOL I was actually going to update my message and say maybe you need to start with a football at your back, but maybe not PMSL. God you'll have to do something to close your mouth woman, get some nasal stuff to unblock the cavities, bandage the mouth and hey presto, hubby won't know himself PMSL Pat x

PennyDainty

PennyDainty Report 30 Dec 2004 01:12

Pat I sleep on my front and I've two natural , more like footballs there and they still don't stop me! John said the other night I was belting out "My Diane" Don't think I even know the words to it when I'm awake. PMSL Christine

Pat

Pat Report 30 Dec 2004 01:05

LOL Oh Dear Christine that's terrible PMSL. OK the remedy I heard that works very well is you tie a tennis ball to the back, do this for a few nights, then do the less drastic golf ball, they get the message that's its way too uncomfortable trying to sleep on their backs after a couple of weeks the snorer not being able to sleep on their back should be cured, or forever be stuck with a ball in the back PMSL. Good Luck Pat x

Gerri ..hands up I have to confess, I'm the worst snorer in our house. I even wake myself with it. My son recorded me on his phone the other night to let me hear how bad it is. If it's not snoring I'm shouting, laughing, crying and the other night apparently even singing my heart out in my sleep. Just as well I only sleep a few hours every night! LOL Christine
