The British Public are notoriously generous - I only walked across the car park at work this morning, wafting an old envelope and by the time I got to my desk I had £105. 00 for the disaster fund - I could not believe the generosity, especially just after Christmas and the expense etc. Will send that off tomorrow and by then hope to have at least the same from the folks in the outlying offices. Made my heart swell with pride. Of course there will always be the odd scrooge who won't contribute, but I fully intend to name them and shame them at the staff do in a week or so - blackmail? well yes, but hey if I can spend the last 2 hours turning out my cupboards, drawers and wardrobes and finding 4 (yes 4, to my shame) large bags of summer wear to donate, then I dont think shaming someone for a 50p donation is a sin - do you? We have far too much, and the folks on the other side of the world have nothing! Jacqui

Good. I did think they would contribute more. Most countries start with an offer and then increase as time goes on and the situation becomes clearer. Jacky

It's just been on the news. Is that because the people of the UK had given over £25M in donations themselves so far?
