Hi Christine, My Tyrrells/Turrells were definitely into boats. Mostly they were fishermen but some were shipwrights so it's perfectly possible that some branches migrated to Cambridgeshire, or maybe came from there. I have them in Lowestoft and Yarmouth in the 18th and 19th C and some in Weston. If you find an Abraham there could be a link. Mine went in for Abrahams in a big way. Gwynne

Wow Gwynne, youv'e gone past that 6,000 mark now! :) Was there some Tyrrells in your tree somewhere, did I read?, I wondered if they had anything to do with the Tyrrells in Cambridge here, they are the boatyard and punt company..

*music plays - Queen - We will rock you* Hi Christine, On Dad's tree I have 5,797 people, either blood or married to blood but that also includes current generations. I have 19 generations altogether. On Mum's tree I have 789. Hers are scattered all over Wales and Somerset so have been a lot harder to find. I have 15 generations there but the last few Walfords need to be confirmed as they were passed on to me. I've been doing Dad's tree for about 6 years and Mum's for less than 5. Any more bacon? Daughters the same Mandy, has been given tablets for this vertigo thing, they have a lactose coating, so 5 mins after tablet she's on the loo!.. apologies to customers eating brekkie here! :))

Marion - just a thought - presumably you're on medication due to the recent op? Don't suppose it's the tablets upsetting you is it? Only exactly the same thing happened to Marston yesterday - he's trapped a nerve in his neck and was given anti-inflammatories, and has had to stop taking them. Absolutely fine in himself ...... but same problem as you (which I won't go into on a breakfast thread LOL!).

Gwynne, that sounds great - it makes it so much more real when you can actually see the places your ancestors were in. Yes, Bristol can be a bit of a nightmare if you don't know the area! Trish, does your daughter live nearby so that you can see the little fella regularly? Christine - oh yes I will!!!! Mandy xx

Wow Gwynne, that's a lovely time you had there then, that sounds really interesting, I love going in churches and churchyards looking at headstones!.. how many ancestors have you got now Gwynne?..

*music plays* We Are the Champions. Mandy, We had a wonderful time in your lovely county and managed to find almost every church and village I wanted. First day we visited friends and "did" the area around Midsomer Norton. I was disappointed to discover the church where some Cottles were baptised and buried was now a private home but we were able to look around the graveyard. On the second day we got up early and headed for the Quantocks via Long Ashton (home of my Tuckers). Stogursey is amazing. Then on to Nether Stowey where my Walfords and Palmers came from. We even found a book about John the murderer in the post office. We had lunch opposite Coleridge's cottage in "The Ancient Mariner" then on to Over Stowey where the vicar wrote such nasty things about my broom squire Palmers. My tolerant husband then drove me up to see the place where John was hanged and gibbeted and the woods where my Palmers used to steal wood. We took loads of photos. I was pleasantly surprised to find nearly all of the churches are left open for visitors so we could explore thoroughly. It was good to meet up with our friends as well and we may go again next December but we probably won't stay in Bristol as we had serious trouble with the traffic system there and couldn't find our hotel (twice). And now I have horrible earache. Moan, Gwynne

We heard a lot of fire-works round here, but it's very quiet now, no-one about yet! :)

Aw Marion, what a day to feel yucky! Hugs (((()))) Just hot chocolate and toast for me this morning please; we are going out later with my parents for our 'traditional' New Year's Day - lunch at the Little Chef followed by the local panto LOL!! Mandy xx
