that I feel proud to be British, usually I feel mildly embarrassed about it, especially when abroad (although I wouldn't want to be anything other than British). But today I am very proud to be British, when I hear that the ordinary people of this tiny Island have donated over £50 million to the Disaster Appeal. In what usually seems to me to be an increasingly selfish society I am very proud that we have all pulled together and put the other rich countries of the world to shame. Well done everyone in Britain! |
