Hi, had a gift from my husband this year, family tree genealogy suite version 4, has really got me interested in tracing my ancesters. Just doing the round with the family, waiting for them to dig out certificates and stuff to get me going. In the meantime I have spent the last 3 hourslooking at the millions os sites dedicated to this art. My head is spinning. Can anyone suggest just a couple of sites that i can concentrate on and get the best results so I dont loose heart, or is it just a case of luck and pleanty of money, whats a reasonable amount that I can expect to spend? Thanks for your help. jennifer pepperall south wales

Hi www.familysearch.org is free. You can search the 1881 census and also the IGI (a collection of SOME parish records and some entries submitted by members of the LDS church, which are less reliable) www.freebmd.org.uk - free access to birth death and marriage records from 1837 to about 1903 although coverage is not yet complete www.genuki.org.uk - no family information as such but invaluble info for counties and a fab newbie's page www.ukbmd.org.uk - if you go here and select which county your ancestors are from, it lists websites dedicated to that particular county. And not forgetting, good old genesreunited. Excellent site! Hope that keeps you busy for a while! Good luck Sam
