Hello Can anyone tell me how good the five data CD's that come with FTM2005 are? I am interested in purchasing it, but it would be mainly for the data CD's. Are they very useful? Is there much info from Lancashire? What time periods do they cover? Any info appreciated! Cheers

Hi Greg Santa brought me this for being such a good girl in 2004, so I am happy to tell you what is on the discs lol! 1. Excerpts from Scottish Parish Records - 99% sure that I don't have any Scottish ancestry, so I have given this one to someone from GR who does, and we think that it is going to be very useful to her. 2. Excerpts from 1851 census. I've already found some of my rellies on this, but I can't remember whether it goes by area or batches of names. If you can hang on a bit, I'll check it and come back to you lol! 3. Excerpts from English Parish Records. List too long to go on here but it seems to be useful stuff. 4 & 5. British Chancery Records vol 1 & 2. Here I'm showing my complete novice-ness at genealogy because I haven't a clue what these are - hopefully someone reading this will enlighten us all. Was that any use at all? FTM is brilliant though, in just a couple of days I've set up my own webpages, which I think don't look too bad! Ask away if there's anything else you want to know. Mandy :)

Thanks for that. It was useful information, but not sure how useful the CD's will be :) I have a *cough* copy of FTM already but would like to legitimize it, so think I will buy it anyway... Amazon have it on special so that will do as an excuse :) Cheers

Hi Greg Just looked at the 1851 census and it seems to cover all counties - a bit of pot luck I suspect! I think it's money well spent, all things considered. I paid £33.90 inc p+p. Good luck! Mandy :)
