I think actually they were probably frightened enough by the spectres of cholera/typhoid/tuberculosis etc and ending their days in the workhouse. That's what I'd be scared of if I had to live then. nell |

It is quite a thought isn't it.They knew life at a slower pace than we do today and I think they would be very frightened by the speed at which everything moves and changes.In their day change was slow and people were able to adapt and absorb change at a much easier rate. |

I think some of my ancestors would welcome the contraceptive pill, but then again I might not be here! Who can say - lots of people are frightened by new things - cars, planes, phones, antibiotics, microwaves etc. Personally I think they would embrace anything that made their lives easier - electricity, running water, central heating... nell |
