just spent most of the afternoon trying to find my elusive gt gt grandmother, no trace of her first marriage, no trace of her daughter after 1861, no trace of her first husbands death, trying a long shot with a 'possible' birth for her daughter, but will proably be a waste of £7. to say i am fed up is an understatement, gggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

susan i have tried every combination of names i have, on her daughter by her second marriage birth cert she is Kezia wilson, late marsh formally tett, tried all those. on the 1861 census she is kezia Marsh widow, her marriage cert to 2nd hubby says kezia marsh widow. her father is Robert Tate (?mistranscription) but i have tried spelling varients as well. she died in 1869, discribed as Kezia Wilson (2nd married name) but i cannot for the life of me find her birth/parents i have tried parish records at the FRO, Ancestry.co.uk. freebmd and every other site i know. i am trying to find the name of her first husband ? Marsh and to verify her fathers name. she had a daughter c1854 by Marsh, this girl has vanished after the 1861 census, again i have tried all names and varients as well as death & marriage records. Susan (the vanishing daughter) would have been about 15 when her mother died, no trace of her on subsquent censuses. any ideas???

oh and Susan i am not all offended at the thought of her not being married/lying about being married or even bigimously marrying, with my lot it would make a change to find one who was actually married to the parent of their children at the time of the kids births lol Bev

no susan not with her family on any census i've seen 1851 possible sightingof Kezia Tott (?tett) as a servant in Somerset 1861 Kezia Marsh a widow in louth lincoln (why did she go there) with children Susan age 7 john age 3 and Elizabeth age 10 months 1863 marries James wilson 1866 john dies age 8 and Kezia has another daughter Sarah 1869 Kezia died in louth aged 44 yrs 1871 Sarah and Elizabeth are with James wilson in louth (Elizabeth is called Marsh but transcribed as illigitamate dau of james) no sign of Susan however, i have found on the 1871 a Susan Marks age 16 discribed as daughter, living with John Marks & family back in Somerset, what is odd about this particular census is that John Marks also has another daughter called Susan age 12 living with the family!!!! ok mind working overtime, but could it be that John was Kezias first hubby and she left, lied about being a widow and married James bigimously. then when she died John took his daughter in???????? or am i being fanciful here???

I know exactly how you are felling Bev. I have been searching for ages for my great great grandfather on the 1901 census, all the other members of the family are there except him. It has been driving me completely potty and I'm still no nearer to finding where he was at that time. Nicola x
