I think Carol is referring to chat rooms similar to those you find on msn etc. The chat board here is really just another message board and it's frustrating to have to refresh the page each time you want to see what anyone else has put since your last comment. In a chat room you write your text into a text box on the same page, press enter, and it appears immediately, so no having to refreshing pages etc. It's quicker and more fun than message boards.
