thanks Debra, Its terrible to think it could have been caused deliberately. Peter has put his photos on Webshots, brilliant photos but very frightening. There's only Peter that would take photos, while Betty was trying to salvage some of the contents of the freezer, lol They are brilliant photos though. June xx

Hi June I have just seen on your site about the fires in Perth. About 2 hours ago I had mail from my friend who lives in Perth and she has not said a word about fires. All she said that she hoped some rain would come to night to water her garden. Also I have a cuz in this area I just hope he is ok. I will mail him to see if all is well. Bye now June.

Hi Sylvia - great to hear that you are ok! I suppose us Brits don't really realise how big your country is. Good to hear that you and Norman are fine, and many thanks June for posting this thread! Mandy xx

Hello everyone, I just want you to know that Norman and I are alright and thank you for worrying about us Mandy. We are not very near where the fires have been, Whiteman Park is the nearest, but we have seen smoke and also the water bombers going over. There is also a smell of smoke in the air. Thank you again for being concerned for us, and love to all from Sylvia in Perth WA XX

HI EVERYONE I live in Sydney and we havent heard of the fires in Perth, so they cant be too big. The volanteer bushfire brigade usually get it under controle fairly well, unless a wind comes up and sends it flying. The looneys usually wait for the words FIRE BAN before they start a fire, but sometimes lightening will start one but it is usually under control fairly soon. This is our fire season also but to date the weather has been nice and mild so things are quiet at the moment.

Hello I live in Perth also and have put on other threads, Perth is a large sprawling city. There have been fires near Yanchep, Bullsbrook Whitesman Park, Kwinana, This happens alot at this time because idiots decide it is fun to light fires. Sometimes it is an accident. We have alot of bush around Perth and people build in this type of area. Luckily we have volunteer firebrigades plus the state emergengy people who come out in all type of situations. Plus the normal firebrigades. In this country especially country areas we rely alot on the volunteers. Do not worry that Perth will be overun. I believe a couple of houses in the national park area of Yanchep were in danger. Nothing much on radio or TV at moment. I am near the John Forest National Park we usually have fires deep in there. All the best Pam

Hi again June, I've just thought of someone else who lives in Perth - Sylvia Whalley. I'm in contact with her, but I know she's not online a lot because of her husband who is ill. I suppose I'd better not put the name of her area on here, but if anyone should hear anything, please let me know. Thanks Mandy :)

yes, I spoke to Peter just before lunch yesterday and he sent me some photos then, they did look alarming. the frig and freezer had defrosted because of the power cuts and their only road out (to the shops) was blocked, Betty was trying to salvage what food she could but typical Peter was taking photos, though I must admit they are sensational. Anyway the fires have moved away from them now, thankgoodness. June xx

June, I will go and put the news on, I haven't heard or seen anything at all this morning. Off topic, but most important - how are you feeling now? Make sure you look after yourself. Love Mandy x
