I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this in the last few days,i haven't been on much lately but hubby had a phone call at our shop asking him to donate money to Tsunami appeal using his credit card.being the susspicious kind that he is,he said he was busy and asked if he could call her back, but suddenly she said she was on a mobile and that he couldn't.hubby then told her in no uncertain terms what he thought of her and put the phone down. I would urge anyone not to give credit card details to anyone phoning, Karen

McAnne's Gahan-Crazy Report 8 Jan 2005 14:46

Unfortunately, nearly every disaster brings with it 'low lifes from the woodwork', who will abuse others generosity to their own unsavoury gain!!! I wondered, when I saw people collecting in Brighton at New Year with buckets, how many unscrupulous characters would copy - only to pocket our genuinely given pounds!! Anne in Kent

Seems to me we need a central collecting agency for charity collections. Or we wouldn't need it if the Government collected enough off us and spent it wisely in the first place.

That is why I sent a cheque to the British Red Cross - at least I know where it's gone, up to them what they do with it!

Unfortunately Both the conmen and women and the fantasists all tend to emerge from the wood work at times like these. Quite repugnant. The only way to stop them is to give your money and unwanted items ONLY to reputable CHARITIES
