Thousands of people have been evacuated in flood-stricken Carlisle after gale-force winds and rain lashed the UK. More than 3,000 people have already been moved to safety with a further 3,000 homes at "great risk" and 110,000 homes without power in the city. So far no casualities but lots of people have lost everything.

I haven't seen the news but it must be terrible to be flooded at any time of the year especially in January. I hope there haven't been any lives lost. June xx

I saw it on the news earlier on. June, I don't think any lives lost fortunately. The water was up to about the top of their ground floor windows, so emergency services were rescuing people out of their bedroom windows. Thinking of them all, it's going to take ages to get their homes back to normal. Mandy x
